The Journal of the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences in Rabat publishes scientific research that meets the following guidelines:

  • Research papers should be written in a clear and correct language in compliance with academic writing guidelines. Arabic articles should be written using the Traditional Arabic font, size 14. Articles in foreign languages, however, should be written in the Times New Roman font, size 12. Articles should be sent in both Word and PDF formats.
  • The author's name, institution, and email address should be written immediately after the title of the article in the center of the page.
  • Articles should be submitted with an abstract in three languages. Each abstract should be in no more than 200 words, with five keywords. Abstracts should be in the original language in which the article was written as well as in Arabic and English. The article length should range between a minimum of 5,000 words and a maximum of 10,000 words.
  • If the research includes tables, drawings, photos or maps, these should be included in their appropriate part of the article and fully documented. They should be accompanied by titles and sufficient explanations, taking into account the acceptable size. They should also be attached separately in the form of high-quality electronic images with a resolution of 600 PPI in JPEG format.

Writing style guide:

The article must be properly documented using the seventh edition of APA style as follows:

For in-text Citations :

  • One author:

(Author’s last name, year).

Example: (Al-Samiri, 2023).

  • Two authors:

(First author’s last name and second author’s last name, year).

Example: (Al-Khaled and Al-Ghamdi, 2022).

  • Three or more authors:

(First author’s last name et al., year).

Example: (Al-Nasser et al., 2021).

  • Anonymous author:

Use the first two words of the title in quotation marks.

Example: ("Researcher's Guide", 2020).

Quotations :

  • For quotations of fewer than 40 words : The text is enclosed in quotation marks with a page number.

Example: "quoted text" (author’s last name, year, p. 10).

  • For long quotations of 40 words and above : The quotation is copied as a block on a new paragraph, indented 0.5 inches/1.27 cm from the left margin only, without quotation marks, then the citation is added after the period.

List of references:

Maintain an alphabetical order of the references according to the first author's last name.

Reference formatting:

  • Books:

Author’s last name, first name’s initial. (year of publication). Book title in italics (edition). Publisher.

Example: Al-Outaibi, Kh. (2020). Methods of Scientific Research (Third edition). Publishing House.

  • Scientific Journals:

Author’s last name, first name’s initial. (Year of publication). Title of the article in quotation marks and with no italics. Journal name in italics, volume (issue), pages. DOI/URL.

  • Websites:

References’ layout :

Indent references starting from the second line of each entry, as follows :

For each reference, do not use spaces before punctuation marks (e.g. period, comma, parentheses), but rather after them.

Article structure:

An article should adhere to the following structure:

  • Title
  • Abstract
  • Keywords
  • The research
  • Bibliography
  • Charts and figures
  • Appendices (if applicable)

Numbering of headings:

Headings and subheadings should be numbered using Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3...) according to the following format:

Text Specifications:

  • The text font should be Times New Roman, size 12, in foreign languages and Traditional Arabic, size 14, in Arabic (as previously mentioned).
  • Page numbers should be placed at the top right-hand side of each page, in accordance with APA style
  • Line spacing should be 1.15.
  • Page margins should be 2.54 centimeters on each side (top, bottom, right, and left).

                    A practical example:

      • Top margin: 2.54 cm
      • Bottom margin: 2.54 cm
      • Right margin: 2.54 cm
      • Left margin: 2.54 cm
