Plagiarism & AI Usage Policy
The Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences of Rabat Journal (FLHSRJ) strictly enforces robust standards regarding academic integrity, original authorship, and the ethical use of technology in research. Below are the definitive guidelines concerning plagiarism screening and generative AI usage.
1. Plagiarism Policy & Detection
Submission of plagiarized content is a severe breach of academic ethics. All manuscripts submitted to the journal must represent entirely original research or authorized translation work. The journal defines plagiarism as copying text, ideas, data, or structural components from other sources without proper attribution.
- Systematic Screening: Every manuscript undergoes formal plagiarism screening using iThenticate immediately during the initial editorial review stage.
- Tolerance Threshold: Minor, unintentional similarities (such as common phrases or standardized cross-referenced methodological descriptions) must be properly cited. Any manuscript displaying significant text overlap or text recycling (self-plagiarism) flagged by iThenticate will be immediately rejected.
- Sanctions: If plagiarism is discovered after publication, the journal will initiate a formal investigation following COPE guidelines, which may result in a formal retraction or correction note.
2. Generative AI & AI-Assisted Technologies
In alignment with global publication standards, the journal has established clear boundaries regarding the use of Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) in prepared manuscripts:
- Authorship Restriction: Generative AI tools cannot be listed as an author or co-author on any submission. AI lacks the capacity to take responsibility for submitted work, handle conflicts of interest, or manage copyright requirements.
- Acceptable Use: AI tools may be utilized strictly to improve readability, enhance basic language styling, or aid in grammar correction.
- Mandatory Disclosure: If generative AI tools are used during any part of the research design, data analysis, or manuscript drafting phase, authors must explicitly disclose this usage in a dedicated statement within their submission (e.g., in the methodology section or an acknowledgment note).
- Author Accountability: The human authors remain fully accountable for the accuracy, factual integrity, and original framing of all content within the manuscript, including any elements generated or edited by an AI system.
Authors are required to confirm compliance with these academic integrity policies during the online OJS submission process.
